What is the difference between BT4 and CT4 in the explosion protection class?

BT4 and CT4 are both grade marks for explosion-proof motors, representing different explosion-proof levels respectively.

BT4 refers to the combustible gas accumulation area in the explosion hazard area and is suitable for explosive gas environments in Zone 1 and Zone 2. CT4 refers to the combustible dust accumulation area in the explosion hazard area and is suitable for dust explosive environments in Zones 20, 21 and 22. The main differences are as follows: Scope of application: BT4 is suitable for combustible gas environments, while CT4 is suitable for combustible dust environments. Environment type: BT4 corresponds to a flammable gas environment, and CT4 corresponds to a combustible dust environment.

Protection requirements: Due to the different characteristics of gas and dust, explosion-proof motors have different protection and sealing requirements in different environments. Certificate mark: BT4 and CT4 are internationally accepted explosion-proof grade marks. Explosion-proof motors need to obtain corresponding explosion-proof certifications and certificates to use these marks.

It should be noted that the selection of an appropriate explosion-proof grade and type of explosion-proof motor should be determined based on the explosion risk assessment of the actual workplace. During use, correct installation, operation and maintenance should also be carried out in accordance with relevant safety regulations and requirements.
